STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
After-school Activities - Activities scheduled at various times through the year to provide students with extra experiences.

Community Involvement

Local business partners, Hastings College programs to provide experience for teacher trainees and help for students, parenting classes offered, etc.

Conflict Managers

Students trained to help peers resolve non-physical disputes through a problem solving method. The program also helps students learn leadership and communication skills. (C.U.B.S.- Cooperation and understanding between students.) Team program for students in grades 3-6 who have learned conflict management skills. Mrs. Kim Creech is the leader.

4-H Program

School/4-H cooperation provides a means of teaching students responsibility by taking care of animals and participating in 4-H projects. Mr. Dave Berens is the leader.

Student Council (Lion's Pride)

Student council sponsors activities in community relations, drug awareness, parent/child activities, etc.

D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)

A seventeen week program to help students recognize and resist the pressures that may influence them to experiment with tobacco or drugs. Students also learn how violence hurts everyone. Police Officer Andrea Towler is the teacher.

F.P.S. (Future Problem Solving)

An international competitive program for students in which they "solve" problems of the future using the Osborne-Parnes problem-solving method. The coach is Mrs. Chris Kemp.
